Chantilly is E-City of Virginia

In a time where technology reigns, it is of utmost important for communities to be "up-to-speed". E-Commerce is a world of it's own and many businesses are being forced to integrate the internet into their business to lure consumers to their stores.

Google has selected Chantilly as the 2013 “eCity” of Virginia.

The Google eCity Award recognizes the strongest online business community, or digital capital, in each state. The businesses within this community are using the Web to find new customers, maintain contact with existing customers and help fuel the local economies, county officials said in announcing the selection.

Award recipients are selected through a process conducted by Google and an independent research firm Ipsos MORI, analyzing the online strength of local small businesses in cities in all 50 states. The highest scoring city in each state was designated a 2013 Google eCity.

The Financial Week Ahead in Fairfax VA

Last Week

- Best levels seen around noon on Tuesday, weakness followed
- Majority of weakness seen Wednesday after Economic data
- Markets closed on Thursday, then a quiet, sideways half-day on Friday

This Week

- Significant economic data on calendar, high market-moving potential
- ISM Manufacturing on Monday, then Tuesday is quiet
- Lots of important data on Wednesday, starting with ADP Employment
- GDP (2nd Q3 reading) on Thursday, and all-important Employment Situation (NFP) on Friday
- NFP is even more important than normal due to immediate QE implications 2 weeks from now

Strategy
After last week's Thanksgiving holiday and bond market closures cast some doubt as to whether or not we should put much stock in MBS weakness, this week's busy calendar of significant data more than makes up for it. By the end of the week, we will have seen several of the most relevant market movers in terms of economic data ...

Dumfries VA Christmas Fesitivites

In the Prince William County area- the passing of Thanksgiving simply means "It's time to decorate for Christmas". As I drove to and from my destinations over the weekend,  I saw Christmas lights up and families outside hanging decorations. What a wonderful time of year it is! People are cheery, giving, and kind as they prepare for the influx of family, gifts, and food.

If you live in the Northern VA area- there are plenty of activities to participate in throughout the coming Month.

Dumfries will hold its annual Christmas Tree Lighting from 5-6 p.m. Dec. 7 at town hall, 17755 Main St. Dumfries.
Participants will get to sing carols with the Dumfries Elementary School Chorus. Children will be read a holiday story by Mayor Jerry Foreman and all will be able to decorate the town tree.
Ornaments are available at the Dumfries Town Hall for those interested in decorating them at home and bring them to the lighting.
